October 2012 - IPSec VPN Upgrades No Longer Provided by Cisco
University Information Technology Services (UITS) has offered VPN (virtual private network) services from Cisco software in two ways:
- as downloadable software on the Software License site that can be installed on your computer
- via the website vpn.arizona.edu from which you can install VPN
Cisco will no longer provide upgrades on the IPSec VPN software that you may have downloaded on your computer from Software License. Cisco will, however, continue to provide security patches for existing versions until July 2013, meaning that you may continue to use your downloaded VPN software until it no longer works.
This means that, if you have downloaded UA VPN software onto your computer…
- if you upgrade your operating system, the VPN software may become incompatible with your system.
- if the VPN software on your computer stops functioning you will have to use the VPN available from vpn.arizona.edu
Cisco is continuing support and development for the AnyConnect SSL web client. If you have a VPN version that no longer works, you can go to http://vpn.arizona.edu
to install the AnyConnect VPN client.
