The campus firewall protects all devices connected to the campus network by blocking specific ports from vulnerability scans and attacks from outside the campus network. UITS Network Services manages multiple firewalls between the campus networks and Internet1/Internet2. Computers and other systems on campus using private 10-Net IP address space cannot be seen or scanned from the Internet. There are two types of firewalls on campus; Border Firewall and Managed Local MPLS Firewalls.
UA departments registered IT network managers.
Currently there is no charge for this service.
Screening network traffic as it crosses the boundary between the Internet and the campus network, the firewall blocks certain probes and attacks from reaching our networked computers, creating a safer computing environment for everyone.
